Buttermilk Eco

We are a family run business going under the name of Buttermilk which has three strands - Buttermilk Dance - Dancegear - Buttermilkeco.
It all began some 50 years ago with the start of our Dance school which is situated on the border of North Staffordshire and South Cheshire. Even at this time we had the environment in mind by reusing costumes that were worn in our Dance shows.

In 2001 we moved into our own premises that we converted from a Bank into a fully equipped Dance Studio and at the same time, launched our Dance wear shop - Dancegear.

Although we have always encouraged recycling and environmentally friendly activities, it was in 2022 that Buttermilkeco came about as we felt that we wanted to do more to make people aware of climate change and the damage that is being done to the planet. Our first products were mainly for cleaning and personal toiletries that provided the opportunity to refill your bottle and contained no toxic and harmful chemicals.

We have now introduced more gifts and personal items. These include scarves, bags and toys made from recycled plastic bottles. We also have a range of products made from bamboo like socks and men’s boxer shorts. We are aware that some fragrance products are not good for humans or the environment so we are careful with our selection and offer items like our rapeseed and coconut wax melts. The companies that we deal with, in the main, are small family run UK businesses that are committed to producing goods that are natural, vegan and cruelty free.

Everything always seems to go full circle and our latest introduction are Dance leotards made from recycled plastic - we couldn’t have imagined this happening 50 years ago.
